M&A, FDI or Restructuring Partner – Beijing

Position: This U.S.-based law firm is looking for mergers & acquisitions, foreign direct investment and/or restructuring partner to join its growing China practice in Beijing.  For a junior partner role, the firm will consider elevating a counsel or senior associate to partner.  The firm is also interested in more senior partners to possibly be Managing Partner of the Beijing office and/or head of the China desk.  The China office is very busy, and a book of portable business is not required for the right candidate.

Company:  This US-based, full service law firm’s Beijing office has become increasingly busy over the past few years.  With approximately four hundred attorneys worldwide, the firm counsels clients in a variety of cross-border endeavors, with a focus on mergers & acquisitions, foreign direct investment and restructuring.  The firm has been representing U.S. companies in China since the early 1990s and opened their office shortly thereafter, becoming one of the first U.S. law firms to open an office in the P.R.C.  Last year, the Beijing office was responsible for multiple, large scale ($300 million plus), cross-border deals, including establishing several joint ventures in the P.R.C.

Requirements:  The ideal candidate will have Mandarin language fluency and China practice experience, either gained at an international law firm, or at a top-tier local firm.  A U.S. J.D. is required, and a P.R.C. qualification would also be helpful but not required.
